Everybody's Different - I'm Glad I'm Me
An innovative anti-bullying message for 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th graders.
After several requests for a program that would reach our younger citizens about bullying,
Strategies for Youth has responded with an upbeat, motivating and inter-active program for
kids in the 3rd through 6th grades. Washington State's Lieutenant Governor incorporates live
music and computer generated images into the program while engaging all of the kids in the
school. It is an exciting and fun way for the kids to learn respect for others and to make
positive choices.
The kids are divided into audience teams and represented front stage by several of their peers as
contestants in a game show. The program requires the contestants to compete through answering
questions either individually or by interacting with their section of the audience referred to
as their audience team. In an exciting fashion the kids will learn to appreciate differences based
on race, physical disabilities, size, weight etc., reflecting the title of the program "Everybody's
Different - I'm Glad I'm Me." They learn how bullying, harassing and teasing can hurt a person.
Finally, the kids are a part of identifying activities, organizations and hobbies that they can be
involved in as well as involve their friends to help them learn to make positive choices and avoid
negative behavior.
The following are just two of the many positive responses we received about the program:
